The Greater Ozark Optometric Society had our annual Legislative Thank You Reception on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. We had a great showing with ten area legislators attending the event this year.  We make the evening a relaxed atmosphere and use it to thank them for their support during the previous legislative year.  Our next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 7, at 6:30 pm at Mr. Yen’s restaurant in Springfield, Missouri.

Kansas City Optometric Society (KCOS)
Trustee: Melanie Linderer, OD

Our next Kansas City Optometric Society meeting will be December 6  at Lidia’s Restaurant. We look forward to a visit by MOA President, Dr. Duane Thompson,  and MOA Executive Director, Dr. LeeAnn Barrett. Other guests include Gary Robbins, who will be speaking.  We will not have a society meeting in January.  We encourage everyone to attend the MOA legislative conference in Jefferson City on January 10.

Northeast Optometric Society (NEOS)
Trustee: Mindy Blackford, OD

The Northeast Optometric Society has not met since the MOA Convention, in October. Our next society meeting will be Thursday, December 2.  This meeting will include election of our society officers and a visit from the MOA President, Dr. Duane Thompson. There will also be a survey at this meeting to help provide insight on future goals of the Northeast Society and the MOA.

The November 9 meeting was hosted by Hydrogel Vision with discussion of the Clarity H2O contact lens and who also sponsored two hours of C.E. with one course entitled “Not A Dry Eye In The House” and the second “Ocular Omeganemia.” The two hours of CE were proceeded by a visit from our new MOA President, Dr. Duane Thompson.

The December Holiday gathering will be held at Café Napoli in Clayton and is sponsored by Midland Optical.  The annual event offers local society members a chance to relax over dinner and a little trivia.
